・Ecosystem are said to be made up of several feeding levels or trophic level
・Each trpphic level can be comprosed of a number of different specis.
・The first trophic level contains producers.(e.g. green plants)
・The second trophic level contains primary consmers.(e.g. lower, herbivores, insects)
・The third trophic level contains secondary consmers.(e.e. upper, frogs)
・The forth trophic level contains tertiary consmers.(top carnivores, eagle)
・Most of the energy that enters each trophic level is used by the organisms of this level just to stay alive.
・THe prganisms need energy to move from place to, grow, reproduce, and carry put other activities.
・Come of the energy cannot be used and passes out of the organism as waste.
・Only a small percentage of the energy remain in each organism as body tissues.
・The amount of energy that is reansferred from one trophic level to the next raries from about 5 to 20% with 10% being the common rough overagell.
・Some of organisms will not get eaten untill after they hale died.
・Consumers known as scavengers feed on the bodies of lower dead animals.(e.g. vultures, bold eagles, rarens, hyenas, etc)
・The bodies of smaller animals, dead plant matter, and animal dung are food for detritivores.(e.g. crabs, earthworms, wood beetls, carpenter ant, ets)
・Detritivores also include various decomposers, such as basteria and fungi, which consumer any remaining dead plant and animal matter.
・Detritivores feed at every trophic level.
