How to answer Literature Questions. 1) All literature questions must be answered in sentence torn (paragraph torn) or in essay format. 2) Give a title to each paragraph that you write and to each assaighment that you do. For example, Character Profile of Macbeth. If assaighment is to be passed in, then use a title page. 3) Paragraph form (essay format) means that you will write a series of several sentences all related to a particular topic. Paragraph form means that you must write more than one, two, three, or four sentences! 4) Do not indent your introduction sentence and then incident again to begin the main body of your paragraph. Indent once! Write your paragraph of several sentences (more than 5 sentences). Only incident again when you are ready to write another paragraph of several sentences. 5) In the paragraph you must make specific, factual references to that aspect of the literaturea bout which you are being asked to discuss. Each paragraph must be detailed, factual, and informative to be of value.Vaque general statements willnot be enough. Make a statement; then follow that statement with a sentence which gives facts or ideas from the literature to support what you have said. This is called supporting your point of view on the literature. 6) Name names. This means to name the characters that you are discussing. Do not begin by saying he, she, or they. 7) In a question, especially in a literature question, certain words are signals or clues to you to write a paragraph (essay format) answer. These words are: discuss, explain, analyze, compare, paraphrase, detail, essay format, analogy, discussion. 8) Donot use personal pronouns in academic writing. That means do not use me, I, my, I think, I feel, In my opinion, As I said before. Use terms such as: The reader feels, one is aware that... It appears that... It seems... 9) Never use only the first name ofthe author. 10) Underline title. 11) Write numver 10 or below words. 12) Always write And in words. |
