How to OUTLINE a story, novel or play OUTLINE of a story, novel, or play *Use point term - except for the Statementof Theme. The outline of a story (novel/play) is a way to record significant, basic data(facts) found in the story(novel/play). The outline should have a title. For example, Outline of story Paid-up Member by Will R. Bird Then, using characteristics of short fiction as a guide, make an outline. You must include all parts of the Short Story as listed EXCEPT THE PLOT. ***DO NOT include the plot. *ALWAYS begin witha STATEMENT of THEME. -pleasewrite the statement of theme in a complete sentence. It must include 3 things. (1)the title of the story; (2)author's name, and (3)what the story specifically is about. Use (1)one sentence for the statement of theme; no more than 2-if absolutely necessary. DO NOT include the plot. It must be done in paragraph format in the form of a plot summery. |
